Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, supervising, and maintaining mechanical systems, equipment, and installations. The role ensures that all mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while complying with engineering standards, safety regulations, and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Monitor the performance and condition of mechanical equipment and recommend improvements when required.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for mechanical equipment.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical equipment failures and breakdowns.
- Review mechanical drawings, layouts, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Supervise mechanical installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure mechanical equipment and systems meet required technical specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with electrical, civil, instrumentation, and other engineering disciplines.
- Prepare technical specifications, material requirements, maintenance plans, and project documentation.
- Review technical proposals and equipment selections from suppliers and contractors.
- Coordinate and supervise contractors, subcontractors, and external service providers.
- Monitor project progress, schedules, costs, and quality of mechanical works.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and engineering requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and energy performance.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, equipment performance, and modifications.
- Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
- Participate in the planning and execution of mechanical projects and equipment upgrades.
- Provide technical guidance and support to mechanical technicians and other team members.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in mechanical engineering.
- Proven experience in mechanical equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, HVAC, piping, and related equipment.
- Experience working with contractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Good knowledge of mechanical engineering standards, safety regulations, and applicable codes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project-management skills.
